I decided to investigate and see what use black seed oil would be for hemorrhoids sufferers in particular. In my researches I started with Wikipedia and ended up at the British Library for nearly three weeks. Black seed oil comes from an annual flowering plant called nigella sativa, which is native to south and south-west Asia. Its fruit is a large inflated capsule, full of seeds. These black seeds are used as a spice and are often called kalon ji – or black onion seeds. There are many names and it is sometimes confused with cumin, sesame, fenugreek and other aromatic seeds. The oil that is obtained from these seeds is said to have miraculous healing powers, especially in Islamic cultures. The sayings of Prophet Mohammed underline the significance of black onion seeds. According to a hadith told by Abu Hurerah, he says, “I have heard Hazrat Muhammad saying that the black granules (kalonji) is the remedy for all diseases except death.”

The black onion seeds have been traditionally used in the Middle East, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other South Asian countries to treat illnesses such as asthma, bronchitis, rheumatism and other similar inflammatory diseases. Its many uses have earned black cumin seed the Arabic approbation Habbatul barakah, meaning the “seed of blessing”. But what use is black seed oil for hemorrhoids sufferers?

Black Seed Oil For Hemorrhoids Research?

Aside from plenty of anecdotal evidence – much of it from Islamic countries – I could find no scientific evidence that there has been any use of black seed oil for hemorrhoids research in clinical trials, which is a pity. But reported used of black seed oil in treating inflamation and skin conditions does point to a successful outcome in the use of black seed oil for hemorrhoids cases.

As I say, black seed (nigella sativa) oil has been successfully used to treat skin conditions like boils and eczema all over the Middle East and Asia for centuries. It is also said to be wonderful for cold symptoms, although one does wonder why western chemists have not stolen this idea and included it in their branded medicines if it is so successful. Quite a few researchers have also studied the reaction of nigella sativa towards cancer, and the results have been very heartening.

Clinical trials showed that Nigella Sativa oil (not black cumin seed oil) contains nigellone, which was shown to protect guinea pigs from histamine-induced bronchial spasms.

Black Seed Oil For Hemorrhoids & Other Scientific findings:

• An unpublished report from an Ayurvedic Center in Kerala showed that two out of three patients with hemorrhoids reported no further symptoms after using black seed oil for hemorrhoids poultices.
• The presence of an antitumor sterol, beta-sitosterol, shows that the oil’s traditional use in treating tumors and abscesses of the eyes, abdomen and liver is sound.
• Nigella sativa has also been reported to reduce calculi formation on the kidneys of rat in tests.
• Thymoquinone, an extract of nigella sativa seed oil, was shown in tests at the Kimmel Cancer Center in Philadelphia to block pancreatic cancer cell growth.
• Nigella sativa oil has been effective in treating dependence on opium-derived narcotics.

The search for proof that black seed oil for hemorrhoids sufferers is helpful, turned up some slightly disturbing results. It seems that nigella sativa oil contains melanthin, tannin, nigilline and damascene. Melanthin can be very toxic in fairly sizable doses and nigelline is a paralytic, so it is clear that care must be taken when administering nigella sativa oil.
